about image

Élan is an art zine that interrogates forced migration through a lens of self-expression and agency.

First conceptualised as a response to the media’s tendency to focus on migration from a problem perspective, Élan provides a platform for migration stories to be told in a way that highlights the subjectivity, individuality, and personhood of refugees.

We welcome submissions from refugees, advocates, and activists.

Élan is a non-profit project. Each issue, all funds will be donated to various charities that share our mission. Proceeds from Volume 01 will go to www.RefuNet.org.uk; RefuNet offers free online one-to-one English classes to asylum seekers, with the aim of empowering them to integrate into their host countries.
